Pam Minick: Breaking Trail Leadership Recipient
Few people embody the spirit of the West quite like Pam Minick. A true trailblazer, Pam has spent her life opening doors, elevating women in rodeo, and redefining what leadership looks like in our industry.
From being crowned Miss Rodeo America in 1973, to becoming the 1982 WPRA World Champion Breakaway Roper, to later serving as President of the WPRA, Pam has always led from the front.
She didn’t stop there. Pam became the first woman to announce a major rodeo, lending her voice and expertise to arenas across the country. Her career expanded into acting, broadcasting, and business—ultimately becoming part‑owner of the legendary Billy Bob’s Texas alongside her husband.
Pam’s journey is one of grit, grace, and groundbreaking achievements. She has championed the Western lifestyle with authenticity and heart, inspiring generations to follow their own trail.
We’re proud to honor her as the Montana Silversmiths Breaking Trail Leadership Award Winner—a recognition as bold and enduring as the woman herself.

I interviewed a cowgirl whom I have respected my whole life for the Montana Silversmiths Breaking Trail Leadership Award 2025, Pam Minick. It was my honor, but little did I know that it would have such a powerful impact on me. Before the interview even began, she noticed something with my hair. Without a word, she stood up, walked over, and gently fixed it.
I was so touched; I felt a tear swell. This was a friend; this was my hero. That she would do this for me; it touched my heart in a way I can’t explain. Questions I was going to ask her centered around her leadership, legacy volunteerism, and kindness. She truly is a living example of it all. Respect shown by my hero in such a kind way inspired me to write "Be The Cowgirl". It is a tribute to her, and cowgirls like her, honoring strength, perseverance, grace, grit, and gifts shared that inspire and support others. Pam truly embodies the meaning behind the Breaking Trail Leadership program.

Be the cowgirl who fixes another cowgirl’s hair even when no one is watching, because you care.
Be the cowgirl who fixes another woman’s crown, without asking for the spotlight.
Be the cowgirl who leads with quiet fire, strong enough to stand tall, humble enough to kneel beside another.
Be the cowgirl who says, “I see your light,” before the world recognizes it.
Be the cowgirl who gives her time, talents, and gifts, knowing what’s shared comes back tenfold.
Be the cowgirl who doesn’t compete when she can collaborate, doesn’t envy when she can encourage.
Be the cowgirl whose power is steady, whose presence is felt, whose kindness is intentional.
Be the cowgirl who gives credit, shares knowledge, and lifts others with both hands.
Be the cowgirl who celebrates another woman’s rise as if it were her own.
